ABOUT HAND MADE BY RACHEL

Hand Made by Rachel was set up by myself, Rachel Salt in 2004 after being asked by one of my close friends, for whom I was bridesmaid for, to help with the design and creation of her wedding stationery. Being known for my creative side and as a perfectionist with my friends, I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and challenge of designing some unique invitations for this special occasion.

The idea of making wedding stationery got me thinking. I had always been interested in arts and crafts as a child and my parents often said that ‘I was born with a pair of scissors in my hand’, as I loved cutting out pictures and making scrap books, cards and collages when I was young. I had also always had an ambition to work for myself one day and this idea gave me the great idea to turn my creative skills into work.

At the time I was working for ‘Kodak’ as a part-qualified assistant Management Accountant. Later that year, Kodak announced that they would be closing the manufacturing site that I worked at in Annesley, Nottingham and the operation would be re-located to Mexico, a little far for me to travel each day!! But this gave me the perfect opportunity to concentrate my time and skills into setting up my new business venture ‘Hand Made by Rachel’, in designing and creating hand made wedding stationery.

My aim is to work very closely with my clients in providing an excellent service in creating the perfect stationery for their special occasion.
